Slow Travel to Italy

Florence, Cuneo, Parma, Turin

A Slow Travel opportunity to explore Italy coinciding with Terra Madre 2018

We are excited to announce that Slow Food California will offer a Slow Travel opportunity to Italy scheduled to coincide with Terra Madre in Turin, Italy. As many of you are thinking about attending Terra Madre this is a perfect way to augment your experience. While food is certainly the focus of this tour, we will have plenty of time to explore the many cultural activities Italy has to offer. Terra Madre will be held September 20-24 and the Slow Travel Italy trip will take place the week leading up to it, ending in Turin on September 19. For those not attending Terra Madre the Slow Travel Italy trip offers the opportunity to still experience the food and culture of one of the world’s best food destinations.

Included in the tour price of $4,550.00 (double-occupancy) are round-trip flights on a major carrier, full time tour director; air-conditioned motor coaches; superior lodging in tourist-class hotels with private bathrooms; and breakfast daily. The trip begins with a two-night stay in Florence, a beautiful city on the River Arno with wonderful food markets. After Florence we head to Cuneo with a stop in Parma and a visit to a local Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese factory. We will spend three evenings in Cuneo in the Alba region famous for truffles, stone fruit, and wine. While in Cuneo we will make a day-trip to an organic farm as well as visit Banco del Vino, a museum and storage facility for some of the country’s most prestigious wines. We then head to Turin. This is just a sampling of activities. We will also have guided tours of Florence, Cuneo, and Turin.

This trip is a great way to discover Italy’s cultural gems in a relaxed, slow-paced fashion and enjoy food and wine too!
